Line-ups at border crossings can cause hour-long delays, and traffic on the QEW from Toronto is often quite heavy. Please allow at least two hours for your drive from Toronto. For border wait times please visit www.cbsa.gc.ca or contact the Niagara Falls Bridge Commission at 1-800-715-6722 (select option 2) for traffic conditions on bridges at Queenston - Lewiston, Niagara Falls and Buffalo - Fort Erie.
TRAVELER IDENTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS FOR LAND BORDER CROSSINGS IN 2008
Welcome to our cross-border region! To assist with your travel plans to our area, we are pleased to provide these details regarding the current travel identification requirements.
U.S. VISITORS TO CANADA
Be prepared to verify your CITIZENSHIP (place of birth) and IDENTITY (photo I.D.) with such documents as a Birth Certificate, Passport, Drivers Licence, NEXUS/FAST card, Naturalization Certificate, Visa or Green Card, Baptismal Certificate, Citizenship Card, Record of Landing, or Permanent Resident Card.
If you are traveling with children, you should carry identification for each child. Divorced parents, who share custody, should carry copies of the legal custody documents.
Travelers under the age of 18 and unaccompanied by a parent need a letter of permission from a parent or guardian.
CITIZENS OF OTHER COUNTRIES
Must have a valid Passport (and may also require a Visitor's Visa).

FROM TORONTO
Follow the Queen Elizabeth Way (QEW) toward Niagara. Once across the Garden City Skyway at St Catharines, take the Niagara-on-the-Lake exit (38b).
From the traffic light at York Road turn left onto York Road, then right onto Airport Road. At Highway 55 turn right and follow 55 (Niagara Stone Road) until it ends at the golf course. Turn right into downtown Niagara-on-the-Lake. There you’ll find the Royal George Theatre and the Court House Theatre; the Festival Theatre is two blocks farther on.
FROM Windsor/DETROIT
Take highways 401 and 403 to Hamilton, Ontario, and join the QEW toward Niagara. Then follow the same route as the traffic from Toronto (see above).
FROM NEW YORK, OHIO OR PENNSYLVANIA
Cross the Niagara River into Canada at Buffalo, at Niagara Falls, or at Lewiston, NY. Take the QEW to Highway 55, then follow the same route as the traffic from Toronto (see above).
